The hour of 1 P. M. having arrived,

The Committee of the House of Delegates appeared
at the bar of the Senate and conducted the Senators
to the Hall of the House of Delegates, where the fol-
lowing proceedings were had.

JOINT CONVENTION.

The Senators of Maryland, accompanied by their
Secretary, appeared and were seated in the Hall of
the House of Delegates.

The Speaker, as Chairman of the Joint Convention,
there announced that the Senate and House would now
in Joint Convention proceed to the election of a Police

Commissioner for the city of Baltimore, for the term
of six years, to succeed Edson M. Schryver, whose term
will expire before the next session of the General As-
sembly, as agreed upon between the two Houses.

The Chairman appointed Mr. Smith on the part of
the Senate, and Mr. Hosken on the part of the House
of Delegates to act as tellers.

Mr. Hayes nominated Mr. Edson M. Schryver to

succeed himself for the term of six years from the
15th day of March, 1893.

The Secretary of the Senate and the Clerk of the
House of Delegates called the roll of their respective
Houses.

Whereupon,

Each Senator and member then proceeded to ballot.

Upon counting the ballots,

Mr. Smith, upon the part of the tellers, made the
following

REPORT:

That there were 94 votes cast.

Of which Mr. E. M. Schryver received 90 votes.

" B. F. M. Hurley - - - - 2 votes.

" J. Wesley Oler ----- 2 votes.

Total ----------- 94 votes.

It appearing that Edson M. Schryver having re-
ceived a majority of all the votes cast, the Chairman
declared Edson M. Schryver duly elected Police Com-
