granted to the Joint Committees of the Maryland State
Grange and the State Farmers' Association to-day,
from 4 P. M,, to 8 P. M., for the purpose of holding
a meeting to discuss legislation in the interest of
Agriculture.

On motion by Mr. Wootton, it was

Ordered, That Senators Wirt, Hepbron and Dawson
be excused from attendance on to-day's session.

Mr Waters presented the following:

Ordered, That five days and mileage be allowed to
Wm. H. Ady. Sergeant-at-Arms, and to William F,
Sudler, Door-keeper, for services rendered the Senate
at the present session, and the Chairman of the Com-
mittee on Claims is hereby directed to credit and pay
such claims upon taking the proper Vouchers thereof.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on,
Finance.

On motion by Mr. Toadvin, it was

Ordered, That the Sanitary Committee be instructed
to enquire into the sanitary condition of the State
House, and report at as early a date as possible.

Mr Toadvin submitted the following:

Ordered, That the Librarian be directed to furnish,
the Senate with twelve copies of the Code, and that
the Pages be instructed to keep the same in the Sen-
ate Chamber.

Which was read.

Mr. Moss submitted the following amendment:

Strike out all after the word "furnish" and insert
"each Senator with a copy of the Code, to be returned
at the close of the session. "

Which was adopted.

Said order, as amended, was then adopted.

INTRODUCTION OF BILLS.

By Mr. Wilkinson,

Senate bill entitled an Act to protect oysters in the
waters of the tributaries of the Potomac river border-
ing upon the shores of St. Mary's and Charles counties.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the
Committee on Chesapeake Bay and Tributaries.
