House bill entitled an Act to refund; to Thomas H.
Harrison, late collector of State taxes for Calvert
county, a sum of money erroneously paid by him into
the treasury.

House bill entitled an Act to empower the Board of
Public Works to sell the Eastern Hay Scales property,
in the city of Baltimore, and to purchase a more
eligible site in said city for the same.

House bill entitled an Act to promote, encourage
and foster agriculture in this State, and to appropriate
a sum of money therefor.

Which were read the second time.

House bill entitled an Act to adjust and settle finally
all controversies between the State of Maryland and
the Northern Central Railway Company,

With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Add the following additional section 1, and to be
known as section 2, and to read as follows :

"Section 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
go into effect so soon as the exemption from taxation
of the capital stock of the Baltimore aiad Ohio Rail-
road shall be surrendered and annulled, and not before,
it being the intent of this Act that said Northern Cen-
tral Railway, in respect to its liability to taxation, shall
be placed upon the same footing as the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad Company."

For section 2, insert section 3.

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.

Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money for the support of the Home for Mothers and
Infants of Baltimore city.

With the following proposed amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out the word ' 'twenty'' in the first line of
section.

Strike out the word "twenty" in the sixth line of
section 1.

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
