1100 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 31,
"With the following proposed amendment:

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

In section 1, line 40, after the word " Republican,"
insert the words ''and for forty-eight dollars in favor
of P. S. Smith, of the Worcester County Shield, and
for forty eight dollars in favor of F. Raine, of the
Correspondent.''

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.

Reported,

House bill entitled an Act to prevent the importa-
tion and sale of diseased or maimed animals and un-
wholesome articles of food and to provide for the in-
spection there of.

With recommendation that

Said bill be referred to the Committee on Agricul-
ture and Labor.

Which was considered, and

So referred.

Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to pay to the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more the assessments for benefits assessed on property
of the State of Maryland for the opening of Pulaski
street and for benefits assessed on property owned by
the State.

Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the as-
signment and transfer of certain shares of the capital
stock of the Easton National Bank of Maryland,
standing on the books of said bank in the name of
the Orphans' Court for Caroline county or the Judges
thereof, and certain other shares of the capital stock
of the National Mechanics' Bank of Baltimore, stand-
ing in the name of said Orphans' Court or the Judges
thereof, and certain other bank stock of the Com-
mercial and Farmers' National Bank of Baltimore,
standing in the name of the said Orphans' Court or
the Judges thereof, to the Board of County School
Commissioners for Caroline county.

Which were read the second time, and ordered to
be engrossed for a third reading.
