With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out "section 7," and make section 8, sec-
tion 7, and add: "Provided, however, that the pro-
visions of this Act shall not apply to Baltimore city."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time.

Senate bill entitled! an Act to repeal and re-enact
with amendments sections 139 to 141, inclusive, of
Article 27, of the Code of Public General Laws, title
"Crimes and Punishments," sub title "Health, Hours
of Labor of Children."

With the following proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Strike out "lines 5 and 6," in printed bill, and in-
sert in lieu thereof:

"139. No children, under sixteen years of age, shall
be employed in laboring more than ten hours a day,
in any manufacturing, business or factory or estab-
lishment in any part of the State, or in any mercantile
business in the city of Baltimore."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Moss, from the Committee on Inspections, re-
ported favorably,

House bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
section 2, of chapter 332, of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland, of 1890, entitled "an Act to
regulate the measurement of peas, beans and other
farm products."

Which was read the second time.

Mr. Rogers, from the Committee on Education, re-
ported favorably,

Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
section 7, of Article 77, of the Code of Public General
Laws, title "Public Education," sub-title "Formation
of Boards."

Which was read the second time, and ordered to be
engrossed for a third reading.

Mr. Wirt, from the Committee on Library, reported
