and seventy, chapter two hundred and sixty, entitled
'An act to incorporate the town of Laurel, in Prince-

ments.

George's county, " and sections six, seven, ten, eleven,
|
 
|
eighteen and twenty-four of the said act of eighteen
|
 
|
hundred and seventy, chapter two hundred and
|
 
|
sixty, entitled " An act to incorporate the town of
|
 
|
Laurel, in Prince George's county," be and the same-
|
 
|
are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
|
 
|
ments, as follows :
|
 
|
 
|
 
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the male citizens-
|
 
|
of said town of the age of twenty-one years and up-
|
 
|
wards, who having resided therein for the space of
|
 
|
six months next preceding the first Monday in May
|
 
|
next, may on that day, at the place where elections
|
 
|
are held in said town, and on the first Monday in
|
 
|
May in each and every year thereafter, be authorized
|

to elect five persons, legal voters of said town, who
|
 
|
shall have resided therein one year next preceding
|
 
|
said election, and who shall be assessed on the books
|
 
|
of said town to a sum not less than two hundred dol-
|
 
|
lars, as commissioners of said town.

Elections —

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That all future elec-
|

tions shall be held and conducted as hereinafter pro-
|
ed.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said commis-
|
 
|
sioners, elected according to the provisions of this
|
 
|
act, shall, on the first meeting after said election,
|

choose one of their number president of the commis-

dent.

sioners, whose duty it shall be to preside at all meet-
|
 
|
ings of said commissioners, to preserve order and
|
 
|
give directions to the clerk and bailiff; by the direc-
|
 
|
tions of the commissioners, or a majority of them,
|
 
|
and in absence of the president, the commissioners
|
 
|
may appoint some member to fill the chair tempo-
|
 
|
rarily, and perform all other duties deemed neces-
|
 
|
sary to carry into effect the provisions of this act.
