CHAPTER 436.

AN ACT to fill the vacancies in the Board of Com-
|
 
|
missioners appointed by the act of eighteen hun-
|
 
|
dred and forty, chapter two hundred and fifteen,
|
 
|
entitled " An act for cleaning out the Pocomoke
|
 
|
river, by means of a lottery."
|
 
|
Whereas by the acts of eighteen hundred and
|
 
|
forty, chapter two hundred and fifteen, certain per-
sons, to wit : Henry Franklin, Peter Whaley, Zadok
|

P. Henry, Levi Cathell and Thomas A. Spence, were
|
 
|
appointed commissioners to clean out the Pocomoke
|
 
|
river, and to raise certain money therefore by means
|
 
|
of a lottery ; and,
|
 
|
Whereas by subsequent elections held by said
|
 
|
board, the vacancies occasioned by death or other-
|
 
|
wise have been supplied ; and, whereas a majority
of the said Board of Commissioners are now dead,
|

and only James Whaley and Zadock P. Henry, both
|
 
|
of whom were elected by said board, survive, the
|
 
|
said board is left without a quorum, and are unable
|
 
|
to act ; therefore —
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Edward White, John W. Henry
|
 
|
and John B. Dale, be and they are hereby appoint-
|
 
|
ed by this General Assembly to complete and nil up
the vacancies in said board, with power and author-

board for the purposes specified in the act of eighteen
|
 
|
hundred and forty, chapter two hundred and fifteen.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
