per annum upon the original amounts thereof, then
the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore is hereby
authorized and empowered to guarantee in any ap-
propriate manner the payment by said company of
the principal and interest, or the interest only, of
such reduced amounts, and to provide by ordinance
for the manner of making such guarantee, and the
terms and conditions upon which the same will be
made.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That neither the guar-
antee of the dividends, or of the payment of principal and interest, or any part thereof, in the last two pre-
ceding sections mentioned, shall be made by the
Mayor and City Council of Baltimore until the ordinance authorizing or directing the same shall	Ordinance to be submitted.

AN ACT to authorize the Comptroller to refund to
August Bender the sum of forty dollars, errone-
ously paid by him as a tax on his commission.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
