850 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 16,
Mr. Ellegood submitted the following proposed
amendment to the proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Add after the words "one thousand dollars the fol-
lowing : "Or may be sentenced to undergo confine-
ment in the House of Correction for not less than ten
days, and not more than one year, or may be both
fined and imprisoned, in the discretion of the Court."
Mr. Gallagher demanded the yeas and nays.
The demand was sustained.
The yeas and nays were called, and appeared as fol-
lows :

So the proposed amendment to the amendment was
rejected.
The question then recurred on the original proposed
amendment, as submitted by Mr. Laird.
The yeas and nays were demanded.
The demand was sustained.
