Mr. Michaels introduced,
House bill entitled an Act to prohibit the payment
of employees of certain corporations operating in
Garrett county, otherwise than in legal tender money
of the United States.
Which was read -a first time, and referred to the
Committee on Corporations.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Mr. Berret, from the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably,
Senate bill entitled an Act to reimburse the Visitors
and Governors of Washington College for the board
and tuition of W. P. Brown, a student erroneously
appointed from Somerset county under the Act of
1874, chapter 282.
Also, reported favorably, from the same Committee.
Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
section 1 and 2, of the Acts of 1874, chapter 282.
Which were severally read a second time
Mr. Carter, from the Committee on Rules, submitted
the following
REPORT:
The Committee on Rules, to whom was referred the
following order, viz:
"On account of the increased labor imposed upon
the engrossing clerks of this House, caused by amend-
ment of Rule 5, requiring all general bills to be pre-
sented on bill paper with leave,
"Therefore be it ordered, That the Speaker be and
he is hereby directed to appoint additional engrossing
clerks to facilitate the work of th'is House," beg leave
to report the following substitute therefore and
recommend its adoption by the House.
Ordered, That the Speaker be, and he is hereby,
authorized to appoint for the remainder of this session
five additional engrossing clerks, whose pay shall
commence from the time of taking the oath of office.
