Whereupon,
The Speaker declared that no person had received
a majority of the votes cast by the House of Delegates
for a United States Senator to fill the vacancy caused
by the death of the Hon. Ephraim K. Wilson, a Sena-
tor in the Congress of the United S rates, from this
State, who died during the recess of the Legislature
of this State, for the term ending' on the 4th day of
March, 1897, and the said fact was accordingly so
entered on the Journal of the House of Delegates by
the Clerk thereof.
