re-enact with amendments section four hundred and
six of Article twenty-seven of the Code of Public
General Laws.
The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following message:
JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
Senate Joint Resolution relating to the refunding
by the Government of the United States of the direct
tax due the State of Maryland.
Which was read a first time, and referred to the
Committee on Federal Relations.
Mr. Sams submitted the following message :
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 19th, 1892.
Gentlemen of the Senate :
We propose, with the concurrence of your Honor-
able Body, the appointment of a Joint Special Com-
mittee, to consist of five members on the part of the
House and three members on the part of the Senate,
to visit the Legislature of Virginia to confer with
them in relation to proper legislation for the Potomac
river and Pocomoke river and sound.
We have named on the part of the House, Messrs.
Sams, Sterling, Combs, Ellegood and Miles.
