said Spencer C. Jones, Treasurer as aforesaid, did also-
receive of the said former and retiring Treasurer, the
following certificates deposited by insurance compa-
nies with him as Treasurer as a guarantee f or the pay-
ment of the policies of insurance by said company as
required by law, to wit:
Deposited by the Maryland Life Insur-
ance Company of Baltimore,Certificate
No. 38, of the Internal Improvement
Loan of Baltimore city, for ... $100,000 00
Deposited by the American Casualty
Insurance and Security Company of
Baltimore city, United States 4 per
cent, consols, ten certificates, Nos.
84188 to 84197, each, inclusive, and
ten certificates, Nos. 84210 to 84219,
each, inclusive, and each for $10,000
aggregating ..... 200,000 00
All of which were issued directly to said companies
respectively; and I also received the duplicate receipts
of said retiring Treasurer under which said deposits
were made, and I did furthermore receive of said for-
mer and retiring Treasurer the two keys of the box
rented by the State from the Safe Deposit and Trust
Company of Baltimore, held by him, but neither of
which could open said box or vault without one of the
keys held by the Governor and Comptroller, respec-
tively, being first used therefor.
And I, the said Spencer C, Jones, Treasurer, as
aforesaid, did furthermore leceive of said Edwin H.
Brown, former and retiring Tieasurer, as aforesaid, in
the deposit in the Farmers' National Bank of Annap-
olis, to credit of the State of Maryland, the sum of
$164,121.45, and in the deposit in the Farmers and
Merchants' National Bank ol Baltimore, to the credit
of the State of Maryland, the sum of $385,549.34, and
this receipt is executed in "Triplicate."
