Mr. Combs presented a petition from George W.
Parks and 125 other oystermen of St. Mary's county,
praying that the Oyster Law may be so amended as to
prohibit the taking of oysters during the months of
April and September.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
Mr. Sams presented a petition from Brigham Hop-
kins & Co., and 100 other citizens of Baltimore, for a
just and equitable telephone rate.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Corporations.

On motion of Mr. Fockler, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Garrett be excused on account
of sickness.
On motion of Mr. Orrick, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Monmonier be excused from
attending to-day's session.
On motion of Mr. Maddox, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Carrico be excused from attend-
ance on to day's session, on account of business.
On motion of Mr. Carter, it was

LEAVES TO INTRODUCE BILLS.
On motion of Mr. McSherry,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary
to introduce a bill entitled an Act to amend Article
27, of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland,
title "Crimes and Punishments," by adding a new
sub-title to be known as "Bawdy Houses and Houses
of Ill-Fame," and add a new section to be known as
"Section 16 A."
