following : "That the provisions of this bill shall not
apply to Carroll county."

House bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower
the County Commissioners of Baltimore county to
appropriate a sum of money for the purchase of a
steam fire engine for use at and in the vicinity of the
villages of Highlandtown and Canton, in the 12th
district of Baltimore county.
Mr. Orrick submitted the following proposed
amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Insert "if in their discretion they may deem it nec-
essary," in line 2, section 1, after the word "con-
tract."
Which was rejected.

the County Commissioners of Baltimore county to
contract with the Mayor and City Council of Balti-
more city for the laying of water mains and the erec-
tion and supply of one or more fire plugs at and in the
vicinity of the village of Highlandtown, in the 12th
district of Baltimore county.
Mr. Orrick submitted the following proposed amend-
ment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
In section 1, line 6, after the word "county," insert
the words -'if in their discretion they may deem it
necessary.
Which was adopted.
