The Secretary of State, Hon. Edward LeCompte, ap-
peared and delivered the following communication
from the Executive: ,
STATE OF MARYLAND,
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT,
Annapolis, April 2nd, 1892.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
I respectfully report to your Honorable Body, that
the Comptroller and Treasurer have complied with
section 23, of chapter 571, of the Acts of 1890, re-
quiring them to count and examine the securities of
the State in the presence of the Governor, during the
first two weeks of April.
The results of said examination are herewith sub-
mitted, with the request that this message, together
witn the schedule of securities, be spread upon the
Journal.

Together with the following certificate from the
Comptroller and Treasurer:
We, the undersigned, Comptroller and Treasurer of
Maryland, do hereby certify, that having visited the
Safe Deposit Company in Baltimore city, wherein the
bonds, certificates of stock and other securities pur-
chased or obtained for the use of the Sinking Funds,
and all other bonds, certificates of stock and other
securities belonging to the State were deposited ac-
cording to law, and obtained the same, we did, on the
first day of April, A. D. 1892, in the presence of the
Governor of said State, count the bonds and certifi-
cates of stock of the State of Maryland, and count and
examine the other securities for the use of: the Sink-
ing Funds, and do return this a statement of the bonds
and certificates so counted and those so counted and
cancelled, signed by us, to be filled in the office of
Comptroller of said State, as required by law, as fol-
lows, to wit:
Amount to the Defence Redemption Loan Sinking
Fund.
Sixty-nine (69) Frederick City Bonds,
each for $1,000, with coupons due July
1st, 1892, and thereafter attached, as
follows:
