Mr. Laird, from Select Committee, reported fav-
orably with proposed amendment,
Senate bill entitled an Act to authorize and direct
the County Commissioners of Montgomery county to
refund to Sarah A. Elliott, of said county, a certain
sum of money for taxes erroneously paid to said
County Commissioners by her.
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out the word ''Elliott'' wherever it occurs in
the bill and insert "Ellicott" in lieu thereof.
Which was adopted.
Said bill as amended was then read a second time.

ORDER OF THE DAY.
The hour of 1 P. M. having arrived, the House
considered the order of the day, being
House bill entitled an Act to amend Article 23, of
the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Corporations," by adding thereto an additional sec-
tion to follow section 20, class 7, and to be designated
as "Section 20 A, Class 7 A," of said Article, proyid-
ing for the formation of corporations for conducting
any trading, commercial or mercantile business.

Further consideration was postponed till Friday,
January 29th, and made the order of the day for

reported favorably,
Senate Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to
issue his commission to Hon. Arthur P. Gorman.
