only is rented by one individual company or corpora-
tion located within a radius of two miles from the cen-
tral exchange, and one dollar additional per month
for every additional mile distant from said exchange ;
where two or more telephones are used by the same
individual company or corporation located within a
radius of two miles from the central exchange, the
rental per month for such telephone so rented shall
not exceed 85.50 per month, and one dollar additional
for each mile distant from said exchange,"
Mr. Joyce demanded the yeas and nays.
The demand was sustained.
The yeas and nays were called, and appeared as fol-

NEGATIVE.—Messrs. Speaker, Garner, Hutchins,
Ireland, Hamilton, Jr., Wooters, Leonard, Meredith,
Hill, Brennan, Joyce, Berret. Leeds, Haslup—14.
So the proposed amendment was adopted.
Mr. Sams submitted the following proposed amend-
ment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all of section 2.
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then read a second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
On motion of Mr. Carter,
Said bill was made the Order of the Day for to mor-
row, March 30th, at 1 P. M.
The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following:
House bill entitled an Act to repeal sections 1 and
2, of chapter 490, passed at the January Session of
