Mr. Barber moved to commit to the Allegany
County Delegation,
Senate bill entitled an Act to grant additional cor-
porate powers to the Cumberland Loan and Saving
Association.
Which motion prevailed, and bill so referred.
Mr. Brashears moved to take up and consider,
Senate bill entitled an Act to prohibit any corpor-
ation which under the laws of this State shall act as
trustee, executor, administrator, guardian, committee
or receiver, or in any one or more of those capacities
without bond or security other than its own obligation
in any case in which bond would be required in the
like or similar capacity from incurring liability of a
surety upon any bond.
With proposed amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the words "a bill," and insert
in lieu thereof the following: "Entitled an Act to
prohibit any corporation, which under the laws of this
State shall act as surety on any bond from acting as
trustee, executor, administrator, guardian, committee
or receiver, or in any one or more of those capacities,
without bond or security other than its own obligation
in any case where bond is required from a natural
person.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, that from and after the passage of this Act no
corpora tion which under the laws of this State shall act
as surety on any bond, shall as trustee, executor, ad-
ministrator, guardian, committee or receiver, or in any
one or more of those capacities without bond or se-
curity other than its own obligation in any case where
land is required from natural person, and all Acts
and parts of Acts, whether general or special, inconsis-
tent herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed.
Mr. Carter moved as a substitute the said bill with
proposed amendment be referred to the Baltimore
City Delegation.
Mr. Carter demanded the yeas and nays.
