CHAPTER 623.

AN ACT to authorize the clerk of the Circuit Court of Dor-

chester County, to make or have made a general index of

the land records of said county, and to provide for the

payment therefor,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Maryland, That the clerk of the Circuit Court for Dorches-

county for which a general index has not been heretofore

made, and to continue such general index, as new Libers,

or volumes, are added to said land records, and the said

clerk shall enter on said general index the name or names

of both the grantor, and grantee, mortgagor or mortgagee,

vendor or vendee in every deed, mortgage or other instru-

ments conveying lands or interest in land or affecting the

title thereto, so that there shall be one general index, begin-

ning with the grantors, mortgagors, and vendors, and one

beginning with the grantees, mortgagees and vendors.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the county commissioners

of said county, shall yearly levy and pay unto the said clerk

the date of its passage.
