CHAPTER 613.


AN ACT to prohibit the sale of spirituous or fermented


liquors or lager beer within one mile of Holly Run Metho-


dist Protestaut Church in the fifth election district of


Anne Arundel County, Maryland.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

liquor, &c

Maryland, That it shall not be lawful for the clerk of the


Circuit Court for Aune Arundel County, to issue license to


any person or persons, or body corporate to sell spirituous or


fermented liquors or lager beer nearer than one mile (1 mile)


in all directions from Holly Run Methodist Protestant Church


in the fifth election district of Aune Arundel County, Mary-


land. Provided that nothing in this act shall be construed


to intefere with the sale of spirituous or fermented liquors


or lager beer in Baltimore County.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

Effective.

from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 614.


AN ACT to amend article 23 of the Code of Public General


Laws, title "Corporations," sub-title "Religious Corpora-


tions," by adding four additional sections thereto, to


follow section 217 thereof, and to be known as section


217 A, 217 B, 217 C, and 217 D, so as to provide for the


incorporation of congregations of the Roman Catholic


Church, in conformity with the peculiar discipline and


practice of the said church.


WHEREAS, the provisions of article 23, sections 205 to 217

Preamble

inclusive, of the Code of Public General Laws, title " Cor-


porations," sub-title "Religious Corporations," have been


shown by experience to be inapplicable to congregations of


the denomination of Christians constituting the Roman


Catholic Church, and it has proven impracticable to organize


religions corporations belonging to the said denomination of


the same general character as those provided for in the said


article and sections ;


AND WHEREAS, it is just and expedient that citizens of
