definitely locates it ; third, the place of birth of such appli-

cant, and if a naturalized citizen, when and where natural-

ized ; fourth, the name of the owner of the premises upon
|
|

which the business is to be carried on ; fifth, a statement
|
|
|
|
that the aplicant is a citizen of the United States, and that
|
|
|
|
it is necessary for the accommodation of the public that the
|
|
|
|
place should be licensed ; sixth, that the applicant is not,
|
|
|
|
or if the applicant is from a firm, that none of the applicants
|
|
|
|
are in any manner pecuniarily interested in the profits of
|
|
|
|
the business couducted in any other place in said city where
|
|
|
|
any intoxicating liquors are sold or kept for sale ; seventh,
|
|
|
|
that no person except the applicant is in any manner
|
|
|
|
pecuniarily interested in the business petitioned to be
|
|
|
|
licensed, and that no other person shall be pecuniarily
|
|
|
|
interested therein during the continuance of the license ;
|
|
|
|
eighth, that the applicants have not nor has any of them
|
|
|
|
had a license for the sale of intoxicating liquors in this
|
|
|
|
State revoked, nor has been couvicted of any crime within
|
|
|
|
one year preceding the filing of said petition ; ninth, the
|
|
|
|
petition must be verified by the affidavit of the petitioner,
|
|
|
|
made before a justice of the peace; if any false statement is
|
|
|
|
made in any part of said petition, the petitioner or petitioners
|
|
|
|
shall be deemed guilty of perjury, and upon indictment and
|
|
|
|
conviction thereof his license shall be revoked and he shall
|
|
|
|
be subject to the penalties provided by law for that crime.

|
|
SEC. 184 I. No license shall be issued to any person or
|

persons until he, she or they shall have paid the license fees

provided for in the succeeding sections; and such license

fee is paid

may be transferred and assigned to any person competent to
|
|
|
|
take out license upon the assignee complying with all the

requirements of this act provided for taking out licenses.

except that no additional charge or fee shall be collected for
|
|
|
|
said transfer.

|
|
|
SEC. 184 J. If after notice and heariug the mayor, coun-
|
|
|
|
sellor and aldermen shall decide to grant the license prayed
|

for they shall notify the applicant of such decision and the

licenses

applicant shall thereupon pay to the collector and treasurer
|
|
|
|
of the city of Annapolis the sum of money specified below
|
|
|
|
to wit : For a hotel, restaurant or other place in which dis-
|
|
|
|
tilled liquors or admixtures of distilled liquors containing
|
|
|
|
more than fifteen per cent, of alcohol are sold by retail, the
|
|
|
|
sum of two hundred dollars ; for a hotel or restaurant or
|
|
|
|
other place in which only fermented liquor or liquors con-
|
|
|
|
taining less than fifteen per cent, of alcohol are sold, the sum
|
|
|
|
