2, "Formation of Boards," be and the same is hereby


repealed and re-enacted with amendments so as to read as


follows :


SEC. 7. The board of district school trustees shall be


composed of three persons, who shall be appointed by the

shall meet within thirty days after their appointment, and


enter upon the duties assigned them in chapter five of this


article ; at their first meeting they shall appoint a chair-


man to hold office for one year, and shall give notice of the


appointment to the secretary of the board of county school


commissioners.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 516.


AN ACT to authorize and empower the burgess and Com-


missioners of Taneytown to make a contract with any


body corporate or joint stock water company that may


hereafter be formed in Taneytown for the supply of water


to said town, and erection of fire plugs or hydrants and


to levy taxes to pay said company according to the terms


of said contract, and to provide for the submission of this


act to the qualified voters of the town of Taneytown.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the burgess aud commissioners of Taney-


town, for the purpose of securing water and the placing of

ized and empowered to enter into and contract with any


body corporate or joint stock water company that may here-


after be formed in Taneytown, for the supplying of water


and to bind the said corporate authorities of said Taiiey-


town to pay annually to said body corporate or joint stock


water company as aforesaid for supplying water to said


town, and the placing of fire plugs or hydrants therein, the


interest at the rate of six per centum per annum, upon the


cost of furnishing water to said town and the placing of fire


plugs or hydrants therein for the extinguishment of fires


and the protection of property in said town ; provided, how-
ever, said interest shall not exceed the amount realized from
