name of the mayor and councilmen of Lonaconing, by
|
|
|
|
affixing thereto the corporate seal of the town and
|
|
|
|
the name of the mayor, attested by the clerk, and
|
|
|
|
acknowledged before an officer competent to take ac-
|
|
|
|
knowledgments ofdeeds, by some person designated by
|
|
|
|
said mayor and councilmen for that purpose, which
|
|
|
|
said deed shall convey unto the purchaser the title to
|
|
|
|
the property so sold.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 28. And be it enacted, That the mayor and council-
|
|
|

men shall have power to , contract for the lighting of
|

streets
|
streets, alleys, highways, and public buildings for a term,
|
|
|
|
not exceeding five years at any one time, and any agree-
|
|
|
|
ment or contact heretofore entered into by said mayor and
|

councilmen for such purpose, for a term not exceeding five
|
|
|
|
years, is hereby declared to be valid and binding.

|
|
SEC. 29. And be it enacted, That the mayor and council-
|
|

men may appoint a supervisor or supervisors of streets,

alleys and highways of said town, and direct in what man-
|
|
|
|
ner the same shall be kept up and repaired and may allow
|
|
|

such supervisor such compensation for his services as they

may deem a reasonable.

|
SEC. 30. And be it enacted, That the bailiff of said town
|
|
|

them when assembled, by lawful means ; and they shall be

held amenable to such penalties as shall be prescribed by

the mayor and councilmen.

SEC. 31. And be it enacted, That the said bailiff shall

have the same power and authority, and shall receive the

same fees as constables in Allegany County for making
|
|

arrests, or serving any process for violation of the
|
|

ordinances of the town, or in the discharge of his duties

as bailiff.

SEC. 32. And be it enacted, That the mayor and council-
|
|

men shall annually at their first meeting, or as soon there-

after as practicable, select one of the justices of the peace

of said town as corporatin justice, before whom, or before
|
|
|
|
the mayor, shall be taken all persons charged with violating
|
|

|
any of the ordinances of said town, and before whom, or the
|
|
|
|
mayor, all fines, penalties and forfeitures imposed by this
|
|
|
|
act, or by any ordinance of said town, may be recovered in
|
|
|
|
the name of the mayor and councilmen of Lonaconing as
|
|
|
|
hereinbefore provided, and shall be paid to the mayor and
|
|
|
|
councilmen for the use of said town.
