CHAPTER 418.


AN ACT to repeal sections sixty-one and sixty-four of arti-


cle sixteen of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Mont-


gomery County," sub-title " County Commissioners," and


sections one hundred and twenty-four, one hundred and


twenty-five and one hundred and twenty-six of said arti-


cle sixteen, sub-title " Jurors, State's Witnesses, Crier


and Bailiffs," and sections two hundred and eighteen,


and two hundred and nineteen of said article sixteen, sub-


title "Taxes," and to re-enact the same with amend-


ments, and to add a new section to said article sixteen,


to be numbered two hundred and twenty.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That sections sixty-one and sixty -four of article


sixteen of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Mont-

"Taxes," be and the same are hereby repealed and re-en-


acted so as to read as follows :


SEC. 61. There shall he five county commissioners for


Montgomery County, one of whom shall be a resident of


each of the five collection districts of said county as the

Montgomery County shall elect five county commissioners,


and the returns thereof shall be transmitted to the Gover-


nor as provided in the general election laws of this State,


and when the Governor shall have ascertained the names of


the five persons who shall have been elected at said elec-


tion, he shall write the names of said persons on slips of


paper and draw therefrom, by lot, the names of two per-


sons whose terms of service shall be two years from the


date of their election and until their successors shall be


elected and qualified, and the remaining three persons so


elected shall serve for the term of four years and until their


successors shall be elected and qualified, and thereafter, as


their respective terms expire, the county commissioners


shall be elected for the term of four years ; and the Gov-
