CHAPTER 404.


AN ACT to incorporate Lonaconing Lodge, number eighty-


five of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of Lona-


coning, Allegany County, Maryland.


WHEREAS, an association of citizens exists in the town

of Lonaconing, Allegany County, Maryland, under this


name, style and title of Lonaconing Lodge, number eighty-


five, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, attached to


the Grand Lodge of Maryland, and


WHEREAS, the said association has applied for an act of

incorporation in order that thereby its existence may be


rendered more secure, and that it may be enabled to carry


out with greater efficiency, the important objects for which


it was formed ; therefore,


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

John Cutlebertson, James Nichols, John Abbott, Sr.,
Alexander Smith, Samuel Brown, Thomas Cochrane,


James McFarlane, Daniel Jones, and John Smith, and


such other persons as are now members of said lodge, and


their successors, be and they are hereby created a corpora-


tion, by the name, style and title of Lonaconing Lodge,


number eighty -five, of the Independent Order of Odd


Fellows, and by that name shall have perpetual succession ;


may sue and be sued, answer and defend in any court of


law or equity, and may adopt a constitution, ordain and


establish such by-laws, rules and regulations as may appear


necessary and proper for conducting the concerns of said


corporation as shall not be contrary to the laws of this


State, the United States, or the law of the Grand Lodge,


and the same may change and alter or amend, as may appear


proper, and may have, use, and at pleasure, change a


common seal, and in general exercise all such rights,


privileges and immunities, as by law are incident or


necessary to the corporation herein constituted, and to


enable the members of said order to exercise all things con-


cerning the design of the corporation, for the benevolent


relief of the sick and distressed, and for the promotion of


their purposes generally.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the constitution, rules and

stitution, rules and regulations for the government of the


corporation hereby created until the same shall be regularly
