term of four years, and one for a term of six years from the


date of their election, and the judges of the Circuit Court


for Dorchester County, or any one of them, so soon as they,


or he conveniently may after the said election returns have


been officially made, shall fairly determine by lot which of


said three commissioners shall hold office for the term of


two years, and which for the term of four years, and which


for the term of six years, and in accordance with said


determination by lot, the governor shall issue to them their


commissions for their respective terms ; and any of said


commissioners elect desiring to be present and notifying the


judges thereof shall have the right to be present at the


drawing of said lots to see that the same is fairly done.


Thereafter beginning at the general election to be held on


the Tuesday next after the first Monday in the month of


November in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-five, at


each general election on the same day in every second year,


one county commissioner for said county alternately, as


their respective terms may expire, shall be elected for the


term of six years from the date of their election who shall


receive a compensation of five hundred dollars per annum,


and shall be ineligible to succeed themwelves, or to hold


the office of county commissioner for two years from the


expiration of their term of office.


105 A. In case the office of anyone or more of the county


commissioners for Dorchester County shall become vacant


by death, resignation or otherwise, the Governor shall

appoint a proper person to fill such vacancy until the next


general election ; and if the term of the commissioners by


whose death, resignation, or incapacity, the office has


become vacant be not then completed a commissioner shall


be elected to serve for the unexpired term occasioned by


the vacancy.
