admit him ; and the circuit courts for the counties, and the


Supreme Bench of Baltimore City, are authorized to appoint
a permanent examining board, but no member of said board

mittee

shall be appointed for a longer period than one year. Grad-


uates of the law department of the University of Mayland,


and of the law department of the Baltimore University,


shall be entitled to admission upon the production of their


diplomas, without undergoing such examination and upon


offering such evidence of their probity and general char-


acter as the court shall require.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect


from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 38.


AN ACT to amend the charter of the Baltimore and Cum-


berland Railway Company. An act to extend and enlarge


the privileges and powers of the Baltimore and Cumber-


land Railway Company, incorporated under and by virtue


of the General Laws of the State relating to the formation


of railroad companies as set out in the Maryland Code of


Public General Laws of eighteen hundred and eighty


eight, article twenty-three, and all supplements thereto,


the articles of incorporation of which company have


been duly recorded in the office of the Secretary of the


State of Maryland under the provisions of said Code of


General Laws.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the Baltimore and Cumberland Railway


Company, a corporation duly incorporated in the year


eighteen hundred and ninety -two, by aud under articles of


incorporation duly recorded in the office of the Secretary of


the State of Maryland, under the provisions of the Code of


Public General Laws ot' this State, for the purpose of con-


structing and maintaining aud operating a railroad in

Maryland, beginning at a point in Allegany County at or

Beginning

near Cumberland, Maryland, and running in an easterly


direction through Allegany County ; thence through Wash-


ington County at or near Hagerstown in said county;


thence through Frederick County, to and through Carroll


County to Baltimore County, and through Baltimore County


to a point in the City of Baltimore, as one of the termini of
