CHAPTER 341.


AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, section


six, eighteen and twenty-five, of article seventy-seven of


the Code of Public General Laws, title " Public Edu-


cation."


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-


land, That sections six, eighteen and twenty-five, of article

seventy-seven, of the Code of Public General Laws, title


"Public Education," be and the same are hereby repealed


and re-enacted with amendments, so as to read as follows :


SEC. 6. Immediately after the passage of this act, the


Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the

Senate, shall appoint a board of county school commis-

commis-

sioners for each county, to be composed in the counties of

sioners.

Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick and Washington, of six


persons and in each of the other counties of three persons of


whom one-third in each county shall serve for a term of two


years, one-third shall serve for a term of four years, and


one -third shall serve for a term of six years; from the first


day of August next succeeding their appointment, and until


their successors shall qualify, provided, that the present


Board of School Commissioners for Garrett County, shall


remain in office for the term for which they were appointed


by the Governor, and until their successors are selected and


qualified. The member or members of each board who


shall serve for two, four and six years, respectively, to be


designated by the Governor at the time of making the


appointments, and hereafter, the Governor, by and with


the advice and consent of the Senate, shall appoint, at


every regular session of the General Assembly in each of the


counties of Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick and Washington,


two couuty school commissioners and in each of the other


counties, one county school commissioner, to serve for a


term of six years from the first day of August next succeed-


ing their appointment so that one-third of each board of


county school commissioners shall be appointed every


two years.


18. The board of county school commissioners shall meet
