to increase the levy and to borrow not exceeding five thou-


sand dollars," then in that event section one hundred and


fifty-five of the Code of Public Local Laws of the State of


Maryland, entitled "Carroll County," sub-title " Taney-


town " shall remain and be in full force and effect in law.


SEC. 3. And he it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 332.


AN ACT to repeal sections one to twenty-seven inclusive of


article ten of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Dor-


chester County," sub-title "Alms House," and to enact


the following sections in lieu thereof, giving to the com-


missioners of the county the exclusive management of


said Alms House.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That sections one to twenty-seven inclusive of

chester County," sub-title "Alms House," be and the same


are hereby repealed and the following sections enacted in


lieu thereof, giving to the commissioners of Dorchester


County the exclusive management of said Alms House.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the county commissioners


shall have the right to employ the overseer of the Alms

they shall themselves, or by a committee of one or more of

and Alms House and to do all other acts and things neces-

sary for the proper management of the same ; they may in

their discretion, let out the farm and Alms House annually,

to the lowest bidder, including the stock, farming imple-

ments, &c., upon it, requiring and taking from said lowest

bidder a bond for three thousand dollars, with ample security
