CHAPTER 317.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments section
|
|
|
|
thirty -nine of article one of the Code of Public Local
|
|
|
|
Laws, title " Allegany County," sub-title " County Treas-
|
|
|
|
urer," and to add three new sections to said article to fol-
|
|
|
|
low immediately after section thirty-nine, to be designated
|
|
|
|
as section thirty-nine A, thirty-nine B, and thirty-nine C.
|
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of
|
|
|
|
Maryland, That section thirty -nine of article one of the Code
|
|
|
Amend-
|
of Public Local Laws, title " Allegany County," sub-title
|
|
|
ments.
|
" County Treasurer," be and the same is hereby repealed
|
|
|
|
and re-enacted with amendments, and that three new sec-
|
|
|
|
tions, be and the same are hereby added to said article to
|
|
|
|
follow immediately after section 39 and to be Numbered sec-
|
|
|
|
tion thirty-nine A, thirty-nine B, and thirty-nine C, to read
|
|
|
|
as to said respective sections as follows :
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
39. At the general election for county officers for Allegany
|
|
|
County
|
County, to be held in said county, in November, eighteen
|
|
|
Treasurer
to be
|
hundred and ninety -three, a county treasurer shall be elected
|
|
|
elected.
|
by the qualified voters of said county, who shall hold the
|
|
|
|
office of treasurer for a term of two years, from the time of
|
|
|
|
his election and qualification, or until his successor is elected
|
|
|
|
and qualified, and the treasurer so elected shall be ineligible
|
|
|
|
for re-election to said office for two years thereafter, and shall
|
|
|
|
be subject to removal from his said office for any wilful
|
|
|
|
neglect of duty, or misbehavior in office at any time by the
|
|
|
|
county commissioners of said county; and the county com-
|
|
|
|
missioners for said county at their annual meeting in April
|
|
|
|
in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-two, or as soon
|
|
|
|
thereafter as possible, shall appoint a person of sound
|
|
|
|
judgment and well known integrity, county treasurer for
|
|
|
|
said county, who shall hold his office until his successor is
|
|
|
|
duly elected and qualified as hereinbefore provided ; the
|
|
|
|
said treasurer so elected, or appointed, shall give bond as
|
|
|
|
directed in section forty of this article, and said treasurer
|
|
|

before proceeding to exercise the duties of his said office

|
shall take and subscribe an oath such as is taken in cases of
|
|
|
|
similar trusts and shall not during the term of his office as
|
|
|
|
such treasurer hold any other office either municipal, county,

|

State or federal.
