CHAPTER 298.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to regulate the institution of suits before justices
|
|
|
|
of the peaces in Kent County.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
|
|
|
Maryland, That upon any cause of action within the juris-
|

diction of a justice of the peace arising in Kent County, it

|
|
|
shall not be lawful for any resident of said county to be
|
|
|
|
sued before any justice of the peace other than in the elec-
|
|
|
|
tion district in which he, she, or they may reside, 'provided,
|
|
|
|
however, that nothing in this act shall be construed to pre-
|
|
|
|
vent the institution of suits before a justice of the peace in
|
|
|
|
the election district wherever the contract, bargain or sale
|
|
|
|
was made, or cause of action originated.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts or part of acts
|
|
|
|
contrary to or in conflict with the provisions of this act,
|

be and the same are hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
|
|
|
|
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 299.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to repeal section eight of article nineteen of the
|
|
|
|
Code of Public General Laws, title " Comptroller," and
|
|
|
|
to re-enact the same with amendments.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
|
|
|
Maryland, That section eight of article nineteen of the Code
|
Amend-
ment.
|
|
|
of Public General Laws, title "Comptroller," be and the
|
|
|
|
same is hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments to
|
|
|
|
read as follows :
|
|
|
|
SEC. 8. He may employ a clerk, whose compensation
|
|
|
|
shall be eighteen hundred dollars per annum, and four
|

assistant clerks, whose compensation shall be twelve hun-
|
|
|
|
dred dollars each per annum.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
|
|
|
|
from the date of its passage.
|
Effective.
