Patapsco River from some suitable point on the Baltimore


County side at or near Ora,nge Grove Station to a suitable


point on the Howard County side, the position to be


determined by the commissioners of the two counties, the


object being to so locate said bridge that it will connect the


proposed extension of Wilkins' Avenue to Orange Grove


witli a road running from the Ilchester road to the Wash-


ington turnpike at Elkridge Landing ; and the said com-


missioners are hereby authorized and empowered to acquire


by inquisition, purchase, or otherwise all lands aud


materials necessary for the construction of said bridge aud


its abutments for the convenience of public travel ; and said


bridge when constructed shall be maintained aud kept in

proper repair by the said counties as a free bridge ; provided,


however, that the entire cost to said counties of said bridge


and abutments and the necessary land adjoining thereto


shall not exceed in the aggregate the sum of thirty thousand


dollars and all all be borne equally by the two counties.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said bridge and abutments

have been in favor of making the levy for the pur-


poses herein declared; and the commissioners of Howard


County are hereby authorized and empowered to issue


bonds of Howard County to the amount of not more


than fifteen thousand dollars ; and said bonds shall be for


the sum of one thousand dollars each; and the principal of


said bonds shall be payable in twenty years from the date


of issue subject, however, to the right of said county at its


option to redeem any or all of its said bonds at any time


after the expiration of ten years from the date of issue and


said bonds shall bear interest at the rate of four per centum


per annum payable semi-annually, and shall have attached to
