SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the taxable and corporate

said river, thence up by and with the same to the first


beginning.


SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the male citizens of Po-


comoke City above the age of twenty-one years, being citizens

of the United States, who have resided within the corporate


limits of said town six months next preceding the election,


and who were qualified voters at the last State or congres-


sional election, shall, on the first Tuesday in April, eighteen


hundred and ninety-two, and on the same day every second


year thereafter, elect by ballot one person to be mayor ; and


likewise on the said first Tuesday in April, eighteen hundred


and ninety-two, elect by ballot three persons to be council-


men, and on the same day in every year thereafter, elect by


ballot one person to be councilman to succeed the councilman


whose term of office is about to expire.


SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That any person elected


mayor or councilman shall, before he enters upon the duties

of his office, make oath before a notary public, resident in


said town, or a justice of the peace of Worcester County


that he will diligently and faithfully without favor or par-


tiality, perform the duties of mayor or councilman of said


town, a certificate of which oath shall be returmed by said


notary or justice to the clerk of the council, to be by him


filed and recorded in the proceedings of said mayor and


council.


SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That in the event of any
