from small beginnings, in its peculiar duties of works of

the sick, the succor of aged, infirm and necessitous persons,


and the education of young females, it is now spread all


over the United States, and in all the forms and ills with


which mortals are afflicted, its sisters and members are de-


voting strength and life in ameliorating the sufferings of


humanity, and whereas, it is further represented to this


General Assembly, that the amount of property which said


incorporation is authorized to receive and hold under and


by virtue of said act of incorporation is now largely inade-


quate to carry forward and accomplish the end for which it


was granted, the said corporation being the mother house


of said " Sisters of Charity of Saint Joseph's " in the United


States and the home and refuge of all sisters of charity


who are broken in health ; the result of their arduous labors,


therefore.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the " Sisters of Charity of Saint Joseph's,"


and their successors in the said corporate name, be and it
