act to the Governor of West Virginia, with the request that


he present the same to the Legislature of West Virginia


with the expression of the wish of this State that the con-


currence of the State of West Virginia may be given to the


proposition for arbitration herein contained, and that an


arbitrator may be appointed by that State in accordance


with the terms of this act.


SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That upon the accept-


ance by the State of West Virginia of the mode of settle-

ment of said dispute, as to said boundary line, and the

selection of an arbitrator by said State as provided by this


act, the attorney-general be and he is hereby authorized to


dismiss the suit of the State of Maryland against the State


of West Virginia now pending in the Supreme Court of the


United States, instituted in pursuance of provisions of the


act of 1890, chapter 563.


SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 160.


AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay the claims


of William L. Pfeiffer and George Jewell, for work done


and material furnished at the State House and executive


mansion during the present year.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Appro-

Maryland, That the comptroller be and he is hereby author-

priations

ized and directed to issue his warrant upon the treasurer


to pay to William L. Pfeiffer for work done and material


furnished in preparing the State House for the meeting of


the present General Assembly, four hundred and seventeen


dollars and sixteen cents ; to George Jewell for work done


and material furnished in repairing brick work at the


executive mansion and the executive stables, one hundred


and thirty-three dollars, all of which labor performed and


material furnished, was by the order of the governor, under


the superintendence of John B. Flood, superintendent of


public buildings, the vouchers for each and every item of


expenditure having been presented to the committee of the


House of the General Assembly having jurisdiction over


appropriations.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect


from the date of its passage,
