CHAPTER 145.


AN ACT to pay to William Flaherty fifty -four dollars and


fifty-seven cents, to refund money paid by him to the


State Treasurer for license, and to pay to William Henry


and Mary J. Beecher fifty-seven dollars and refund to


them a proportionate part of money paid by them to the


State Treasurer for season's dredging license.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the comptroller of the treasury, be and he

is hereby authorized and directed to draw his warrant upon

the treasurer for the payment to William Flaherty, late


owner of the schooner Z. Mitchell, the sum of fifty -four


dollars and fifty-seven cents, to refund to said William


Flaherty the amount paid by him to the treasurer, on Oc-


tober 21st, 1890, for license for said schooner for twelve


months from date, said vessel having been foundered on


October 23rd, 1890.


WHEREAS, William Henry and Mary J. Beecher, equal


owners of the schooner " Swan," paid to the comptroller of

the treasury the sum of one hundred and twenty -three dol-


lars and eighty-four cents, on October 10th, 1891, that


being the amount of license fee to dredge for oysters, be-


tween the 15th day of October, 1891, and the 1st day of


April, 1892 (the dredging season), and the said schooner


" Swan " having been totally lost on the 14th day of Janu-


ary, 1892, when only a part of the dredging season had


elapsed, therefore the purpose of this section is to refund to


said William Henry and Mary J. Beecher, the proportion-


ate part of said license fee for that part of the season dur-


ing which it was unused.


SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That the comptroller of the treas-


ury be and he is hereby authorized and directed to draw

and Mary J. Beecher for the sum of fifty-seven dollars, and


refund to them the said amount which is the proportionate


part of the license fee paid by them to the State treasurer,


for dredging license not wholly used.
