CHAPTER 15.


AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments section


one hundred and forty-nine of article four of the Code of


Public Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," sub -title


"Coroner's Inquest and Dead Bodies," and re-enacted


by chapter two hundred and seven of the act of the Gen-


eral Assembly of Maryland, passed January session eigh-


teen hundred and ninety.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, that section one hundred and forty-nine of the


Code of Public Local Laws, title " City of Baltimore," sub-

teen hundred and ninety, be and the same is hereby repealed


and re-enacted so as to read as follows :


149. The Governor by and with the advice and consent of


the Senate shall appoint and commission seveu competent

persons to act as coroners for the City of Baltimore, to


hold office during the period of two years at an annual salary


of eight hundred and fifty dollars each payable quarterly by


the registers of the city, and the said coroner's shall be


assigned to duty by the Governor, one to each of the Police


District of the City of Baltimore, and it is further provided


that whenever the Police District of the City of Baltimore


shall be increased in number by the order of the Board of


Police Commissioners of Baltimore City, the Governor shall


appoint an additional coroner for each of the additional


Police District so created ; provided that before entering


upon the duties of their office, the persons appointed coro-


ners shall take the oath of office prescribed by the Consti-


tution of the State of Maryland for office holders; and further,


they shall give bond to the said State of Maryland with


security to be approved by the Judge of the Superior Court

scribed.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take


effect from the first Monday in May, A. D., eighteen hundred


and ninety -two.
