of registration to the register of Frederick City, before and

Circuit Court for Frederick County, and on conviction thereof


shall be confined in the penitentiary ot' the State of Maryland

SEC. 174. The Aldermen shall meet on the fourth Monday


in July annually, but the Mayor may convene them whenever

CHAPTER 9.


AN ACT to authorize and empower George T. Melvin to


construct a bridge over Weems' Creek in Anne Arundel


County.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That George T. Melvin be and he is hereby


authorized and empowered at any time within the next two


years to build a biidge over Weems' Creek in Anne Arundel

County connecting West Annapolis with the lands upon the


North West side of said Weems' Creek formerly owned by


the late George Wells.


SEC. 2. A»d be it further enacted, That the property of


said bridge when built shall be vested in the said George T.


Melvin who shall have power to demand and receive toll for


passage over said biidge not exceeding the following rates,

namely : For every foot passenger, two cents ; for every


horse and rider, five cents ; tor every carnage and twohorses,


ten cents ; for every carriage or wagon and four horses or


oxen, twenty cents ; for every carriage and one horse, ten


cents ; for every horse and cart, ten cents ; for every horse,


mule or ox, two cents ; for every sheep, calf, hog, etc., one


cent ; and the said bridge and lauding therefor are hereby


declared to be subject to the right of taking tolls as afore-


said so long as said bridge shall be kept in good order and


condition and maintained as public highway.
