LAWS OF MARYLAND.


circuit court for Carroll county an application for such license,


endorsed by at least twelve reputable freeholders of said towns,


setting forth the fact that such applicant or applicants is a proper


person or persons to have such license issued to him or them; and


if any person or persons, or body corporate in New Windsor dis-


trict, of said county, outside of the town of New Windsor, or in


Uniontown district, of said county, outside of the town of TJnion-


town, shall desire to procure a license to sell spirituous or fer-


mented liquors or lager beer in said districts, he or they shall file


a similar application to the one herein provided for, endorsed in


like manner by twelve reputable freeholders of said districts, re-


siding within five miles of the proposed place of business of said


applicant or applicants, and upon the filing of such applications,


the said clerk shall issue to the said applicant or applicants the


license or licenses so applied for.

Effective

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect on the


first day of May, in the year eighteen hundred and ninety.

CHAPTER 634.


AN ACT to legalize and make valid the acts of the Taneytown


savings bank, a body corporate under the provisions of the


General Laws of the State of Maryland, relating to corpora-


tions, in omitting to appoint a committee of five members


thereof to investigate its affairs and publish a report thereof


once in every twelve months, and to declare a dividend every six


months of the interest and profits of said in stitution.


WHEREAS, The Taneytown savings bank incorporated under


the provisions of the general law of this State relating to cor-

porations, has omitted to appoint in every twelve months five com-


petent members of said corporation, a committee of examination


to investigate the affairs of said corporation, and to publish a re-


port of such investigation in one or more newspapers published in


Carroll county; and also omitted to declare a dividend once in


every six months in each and every year of the interest and profits


of said bank ;


WHEREAS, It appears that the affairs of said bank are in a

prosperous and strong financial condition, and that said omissions


have been by inadvertence and not with the intention of evading


the requirements of the law.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
