from all itinerant players or showmen exhibiting within said town


but shall not accept tickets to any such entertainment as payment


therefor; shall also have power to regulate, restrain or prohibit


any theatrical or other public exhibition on the streets, or indoors


within said town, when the same shall be deemed demoralizing or


otherwise obnoxious or objectionable; to license saloons, breweries


and other places where malt, spirituous, vinous or fermented


liquors are sold; provided, that no greater sum than thirty dol-


lars be charged for any one license for any of the aforegoing


objects.


SEC. 413. All ordinances passed in pursuance of the above sec-


tions shall be printed and posted in the most public places in the
said town, and also recorded in a book for that purpose by the

SEC. 415. If it be necessary to go outside of the ordinary taxes


levied for town purposes as prescribed elsewhere, for the estab-


lishment of a fire department or the erection and maintenance of


a lock-up as herein authorized, the burgess and commissioners are

hereby empowered to levy a special or additional tax therefor;


provided, any ordinance so providing shall be first submitted to


the voters at the next ensuing election for municipal officers for


ratification thereof; if two-thirds of the votes be cast in favor the


same shall stand, if not, shall be of non effect.


SEC. 416. The said burgess and commissioners may appoint a


collector of taxes for the said town, who shall have the same


power to distrain and sell as collectors of county taxes have, and


shall receive such compensation for his services as the said cor-
