court the attendance on services of a sheriff may be required in


said court, the judges thereof may direct a sheriff to attend or


perform such services, for which attendance and services the said


sheriff shall be entitled to a per diem of three dollars and fifty


cents; and the judges of said court shall, at the end of each


session of the said court, give such sheriff a certificate of the num-


ber of days for which he is entitled to said per diem.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect on the


first day of April, eighteen hundred and ninety.

CHAPTER 96.


AN ACT to change the name of Potter's landing in the third elec-


tion district of Caroline county to Williston.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted ty the General Assembly of Maryland,

Name.

That the name of the village of Potter's landing in the third elec-


tion district of Caroline county be, and the same is hereby changed


to Williston.

Effective

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from the


date of its passage.

CHAPTEE 97.


AN ACT to prohibit the sale of spirituous or fermented liquors or


lager beer in the village of Ijamsville, Frederick county, Mary-


land, or within two miles thereof.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That it shall not be lawful for the clerk of the circuit court for


Frederick county, Maryland, to issue license to any person or per-

sons to sell spirituous or fermented liquors or lager beer in Ijams-


ville, or at any place nearer than two miles in every direction from


Ijamsville unless for medicinal purposes, and then only upon the


prescription of a regular physician.

Effective

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.
