the crier of the circuit court for Anne Arundel county shall be


entitled to and receive as a salary the amount of four hundred


and twenty dollars per annum in sums of thirty-five dollars per


month, which shall be in full and in lieu of the allowance and


fees now authorized by law; provided, that he shall receive his


usual fees as now allowed by law in cases removed from other

counties or the city of Baltimore to the circuit court for Anne


Arundel county; and the county commissioners of Anne Arundel


county are authorized and directed at their next meeting for


making the county levy, and annually thereafter, to levy for the


use of the crier of said court, on the assessable property of said


county such sums of money as they shall deem sufficient to pay


the above salary of the said crier of said court; upon presentation


to the county commissioners of said county the certificate of the


clerk of the circuit court of said county, certifying the attendance


of said crier as hereinf ter required, he shall be entitled to receive


his salary monthly in cash, and the said county commissioners


are directed upon presentation to pay the same.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of said crier


of the circuit court of Anne Arundel county at all times to keep


and have charge of the court-room of said court, and superintend

the cleaning, airing and ventilating of the same, to attend the

sessions of said court, to have charge and keep open the court


library for the use and benefit of persons having business with


said court, allowing no books to be taken out of said court-room


unless the party desiring to remove the same first receipt for them


in a book to be kept by said crier, and allow no books to be taken


from the library except by the judges of said court, for a longer


period than ten days, and for the faithful discharge of his duties


he shall give bond to the State of Maryland in the penal sum of


five hundred dollars, to be filed with and approved by the clerk


of the circuit court for Anne Arundel county.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all local laws inconsistent here-


with are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 597.

AN ACT to confer additional jurisdiction upon justices of the
peace of Baltimore county.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the several justices of the peace of Baltimore county shall
have in addition to the jurisdiction they now possess and which
may be conferred upon them by or under the laws of this State,
