least thirty days before said trespass is committed, shall be liable

SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That the fines collected by

any justice of the peace and the money paid to the clerk of cir-

cuit court for licenses under the provisions of this act, shall be

paid by them to the county commissioners to be placed by them
|
|
|
|
to the credit of the school fund for said county.

SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That it shall be the duty of

violating any provisions of this act.

AN ACT to repeal section four hundred and six, of article twenty-
|
|
|
|
seven, of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to the State
|
|
|
|
penitentiary, and to re-enact the same with amendments.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|
|
|
|
That section four hundred and six, of article twenty-seven, of the
|
Repeal

Code of Public General Laws, relating to the State penitentiary,
|
|
|
|
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as
|
|
|
|
follows:
|
|
|
|
SEC. 406. The directors may enter into such contracts for the
|
|
|
|
employment of the convicts in the penitentiary and for the sale
|
|
|
|
of the manufactures in the institution as they may deem proper,
|

|
but shall not enter into any contract for the making or manu-
|
|
|
|
facturing of the articles known as tin cans, used for oyster and
|
|
|
|
fruit packing purposes, or iron stoves used for heating and cook-
|
|
|
|
ing purposes, or iron castings used for machinery purposes, nor
|
|
|
|
employ any convicts in the making thereof; the directors may,
however, employ an agent or agents for the purchase of articles
|

or goods wanted by the institution, and allow the agents so em-
|
|
|
|
ployed such compensation as the directors may deem right and
|
|
|
|
proper; provided, that nothing herein contained shall interfere
|

|

with present existing contracts.
