spicuously posted on the property assessed within thirty days


after the receipt of the same; and the constable receiving such


tax-bills shall endorse-upon one copy thereof the time and manner


of service made, and shall return the same to the treasurer within


twenty days after making such service, the said constable shall be


paid a fee of twenty-five cents for each tax-bill and notice served


by them respectively, payable by the treasurer out of the additional


charge of twenty-five cents aforesaid; and the constable shall

have no authority to collect such bills, nor any part thereof; and


any constable who shall do so, or who shall make any false return


under the provisions of this section, shall be liable to indictment


therefor, and upon conviction he shall pay a fine of fifty dollars,


one-half thereof to go to the informer and the other half to the


county school fund, for each such offense.


SEC. 235. The said treasurer shall be entitled to receive as full


compensation for his services as collector of all county and school


taxes an annual salary of twelve hundred dollars for and during


his term of office, and until his successor shall have been duly


elected and qualified; and no extra compensation whatever shall


be allowed him or claimed by him, except such costs as are herein-


before specified, or such as may accrue in the enforcement of the


payment of taxes and for assessing new property; and he shall


not be allowed to receive either directly or indirectly, any other

thirty-two, nor shall he be allowed or claim any fee, compensa-


tion or renumeration for posting notices or for auctioneers' fees,


or for reporting sales to the court, or for any appearance fees,

duties of his said office, nor shall he retain or demand out the

or any clerk, agent or deputy of such treasurer shall ask, demand
