SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 475.


AN ACT to repeal section thirty-seven, of article twelve, of the


Code of Public Local Laws, title " Garrett county," sub-title


" County Commissioners," and to re-enact the same with amend-


ments.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Maryland,

That section thirty-seven, of article twelve, of the Code of Public


Local Laws, title "Garrett county," sub-title "County Commis-


sioners," be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, so as.

36. He shall be entitled to such compensation as shall be fixed


by the county commissioners, and he shall have power to admin-


ister oaths to all road supervisors who come before said commis-

affirmation to any person presenting a claim to the commissioners


against said county, and to any person who is to be examined as a


witness in any matter before the commissioners, for which service


the clerk shall not be entitled to make any charge, the same being


made a part of his official duty as clerk; and it shall be the duty


of the clerk to keep the office of the county commissioners of said


county open from nine o'clock in the forenoon until three o'clock


in the afternoon, and to attend therein for the transaction of busi-


ness on every day in the week, except Sundays and legal holidays ;
