CHAPTER 417.


AN ACT to authorize the county commissioners of Talbot county


to borrow ten thousand dollars f or the purpose of re-imbursing


William Henry Haddaway, James Cox and William B. Dulin


for money furnished by them, or on their credit, in the pay-


ment of claims against said county.


WHEREAS, William Henry Haddaway, James Cox and William


B. Dulin paid on account of claims against Talbot county with

their own moneys, or from moneys raised upon their individual


credit, the sum of ten thousand dollars, and in order to enable


the county commissioners of said county to repay the same; there-


fore


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland

That the county commissioners of Talbot county be and they are

hereby authorized and empowered to borrow the sum of ten thou-


sand dollars, and to apply the same to the payment of the moneys

a monument over the grave of Leonard Calvert, the first pro-


prietary governor of Maryland.


WHEREAS, the remains of Leonard Calvert, the first proprie-


tary governor of Maryland are interred at St. Mary's city, St.

WHEREAS, no suitable monument has been erected thereon to

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That J. Thomas Scharf, E. W. LeCompte and Washington Wilkin-


son, be and they are hereby constituted a committee for the purpose


of procuring and having erected a suitable monument, with ap-


propriate inscriptions thereon, over the grave of Leonard Calvert,
