omission to do which act is or may be punishable under any act


of assembly of this State, or under ordinance of the mayor and


city council of Baltimore, by a pecuniary fine only not exceeding


one hundred dollars, but it shall be the duty of said justice, be-


fore proceeding to hear, try and determine any of the charges


aforesaid to inform the party or parties charged therewith of his


or their respective right to a jury trial, and if a jury trial shall


be so prayed, the justice shall endorse the fact on the commitment


or recognizance and forthwith commit or hold the party to bail


for trial in the criminal court df Baltimore; it is, however, hereby

Laws of this State relating to licenses except violations of the


laws relating to hawkers and peddlers, which they shall have juris-


diction to try and determine and shall not have power to try and

but shall cause all such offenders against the said provisions of


said Code of Public General Laws except as aforesaid, to be com-


mitted or held to bail for trial in the criminal court of Baltimore.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect


from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 370.


AN ACT to add an additional section to article four, Public Local


Laws, title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Streets," to be known


as "Section eight hundred and nineteen A," giving the mayor


and city council authority to regulate the use of the streets,


lanes and alleys of said city by railway or other tracks, gas or


other pipes, telegraph, telephone, electric light or other wires


and poles.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

That an additional section be added to article four, Public Local


Laws, title "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Streets," to be known


as "Section eight hundred and nineteen A," to read as follows :


SEC. 819 A. The mayor and city council of Baltimore shall


have power to regulate the use of the streets, lanes and alleys in

said city by railway or other tracks, gas or other pipes, telegraph,
telephone, electric light or other wires and poles, in, under, over


or upon the same, and may require all such wires to be placed


under ground, after such reasonable notice as they may prescribe.

Effective.
