any by-laws necessary to protect the property of said community,


to regulate and define the powers of its police and peace officers


aforesaid, to make assessments on the land for the good of the


community, to regulate and license all business carried on within


said limits, to prevent animals from running at large, to suppress

Powers.

nuisances, to prevent the disturbance of public meetings, to pre-


vent drunkenness, gambling, the sale of intoxicating liquors,


sabbath breaking and immoral conduct and practices which may


interfere with the purposes of said Mountain Lake park associa-


tion of Garrett county, or said community, as heretofore defined


in their charters and acts of assembly relating to them, and to


impose such reasonable fines and penalties as may be necessary


for enforcing such by-laws; all of which fines and penalties may


be recovered by action of debt before any justice of the peace of


Garrett county in the name of the community of Mountain Lake


park.

CHAPTER 49.


AN ACT to sanction a certain sale and gift to the vestry of Saint


John's church in Queen Caroline Parish, Howard county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That this Legislature hereby sanctions the sale made by Eeuben


M. Dorsey and wife to said vestry, of a lot or parcel of land in


said county laid out for about fifteen acres, as a glebe or parsonage

as expressed in a deed from them to said vestry of twenty-seventh
May, eighteen hundred and fifty, recorded in No. 21, fol. 441


of said county land records; also, the gift to said vestry by John


W. Dorsey and wife and Comfort W. Dorsey, of about one hun-


dred and twenty-nine square perches of land as an addition to


said glebe, as expressed in their deed to said vestry of the eighth


July, eighteen hundred and eighty-six, recorded in No. 51, fol. 99


of same records.

Effective

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.

AN ACT to repeal section one hundred and six, Article five, of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Calvert County," sub-
title "Out Pensioners."
