CHAPTER 326.


AN ACT entitled an act to amend the charter, change the name


of and grant additional powers to "The centenary biblical in-


stitute of themethodist episcopal church of Baltimore' city," a


corporation incorporated under the general laws of Maryland.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the charter of "The centenary biblical institute of the

methodist episcopal church of Baltimore city," a corporation


created under the provisions of the Code of Public General Laws


of Maryland, relating to corporations, be and it is hereby so


amended that the duration of said corporation shall be unlimited.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the name of said corporation


be and it is hereby changed to the name "Morgan college," which

is hereby fixed and established in perpetuity as the corporate


name of said corporation.


SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all legacies now existing or


hereafter given by persons dying after the date of this act, and


all gifts, grants and devises intended for this corporation but


heretofore or hereafter given or made to it in the name of "The

centenary biblical institute of the methodist episcopal church of


Baltimore city" or any modification of the same, instead of its


name as fixed by this act shall inure to the benefit of and vest


and remain in said Morgan college; and by that name the said


corporation, shall be capable of receiving, holding, granting, mort-


gaging, leasing, conveying and aliening its property, both real


and personal.


SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said Morgan college shall


have the power to admit students to the said college who shall


merit the distinction to the degree of doctor of laws or of bachelor


or master of arts; to grant to students in such college such cer-

tificate of proficiency and attainments in any special study as the


said college may see proper to confer, and to grant the honorary


degrees of doctor of laws, master of arts or such other degrees as


may be proper to any person who may merit such distinction,


whether such person be a student in said college or not.


SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said Morgan college shall


have the power to found, establish and maintain scholarships,


professorships, lectureships, chairs of instructions and auxiliary

schools; and to have, hold and acquire by gift, grant, purchase,


devise or any other mode, land and property both real and per-


sonal for the purpose of supporting such scholarships, profes-


sorships, lectureships, chairs and schools, and for the purpose of


investing the funds of said corporation and carrying on its addi-


tional work and plans.


SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said body corporate shall
